Getting ready to set sail!!
After much planning and dreaming, Joe and I are planning to cut the dock lines and head South at the end of October. Whew, been thinking of this moment for so many years, it's a little hard to believe the time is near.
For the past few months, we've been making lists of the items we'll need before we leave, and what needs to be done to the boat prior to departure. There are so many things to think about. Even taking our dogs along is quite a process.
If we are blessed and all goes well, we'll leave Norfolk and head to Urbanna, Virginia for the Oyster Festival, which is held the weekend of November 5-6. It'll be a good shake down cruise without leaving the Bay, and we have some dear friends we want to say goodby to that will meet us there.
From there, we'll head back down the Bay and take the ICW to Florida. I'm looking forward to stopping at places along the waterway, so our pace will be leisurely. I'll want to spend some time with my Dad and the rest of my family in Florida and then we'll hop over to the Bahamas. From there, our plans are liquid. For once in our lives we'll have no schedule.
It's a bit daunting to change our entire lives at our age, but I'm hoping this leap of faith will bring many rich experiences and opportunities our way. I'll be able to write fulltime for once and spend more effort on marketing, which should be good for my author career. I'm looking forward to that with great anticipation!
So, stay tuned, I'll be posting about our trip as well as my writing news. We've also set up a blog for more in-depth information about our travels for those interested in cruising. If you like that sort of thing, the site address is: www.AdventuresOnFantasy.com.
